For people who drive in California, I have a question?
For CA drivers with very dark tints on your car’s windows: I thought there is a law that prohibits vehicles to had a certain degree of tint on their vehicle. Keep in mind I am only referring to vehicles using dark tints, and not white or silver or mirror tints which are ILLEGAL. Who enforces vehicles driving with dark tints, and why are there people who install tints, legitimate or not, to render such services, knowing that it is ILLEGAL once it is too DARK. First of all, what would be the benefits of having tints in vehicles. I already know of cars with tints AND drivers with shades. Doesn’t the California sun bake the interior of a car if its already really dark as oppose to a white vehicle without tints. And, it is ILLEGAL to tint the front windshield and driver’s windows, yet peolpe still do it. BLACK absorbs heat, common sense. But I do know that one reason for having tints is to hide whatever one might have in their vehicle, but is it a good reason. Any comments?
It’s illegal to tint the windshield and the front windows any darker than the factory tint, which is regulated by law to a certain percentage. You can do whatever you want to the back windows. Tinted windows block the sunlight from getting through to the interior. They don’t absorb heat. Most of the heat inside your car comes from the sun hitting the seats, carpet, and dash. Tint minimizes the amount of sunlight that gets through. Like any law, cops enforce it when they feel like it. Every time you see one of those jacked-up four wheel drive trucks with the bumpers three feet off the ground, it’s because the cops have failed to enforce the law.
