Is this quote appropriate for a new furnace in No. Cal???
I’ve received a quote of 8k from Sears for full installation on a new Carrier Performance 80 two stage gas furnace with air filters, 90,000btus and a thrermostat. The full install includes about 80 feet of flexible insulated ducting for 4 floor installed vents and one air intake. My home is a 1925 1,300sq ft California Bungalow. This is a super easy install as there is no old furnace removal and I have a full basement and generous crawl space under the house and all the ducting is just being run around under the floor and cut through to the rooms above (one story and no ducting through walls or into attic) I know I need at least 3 quotes, but don’t have any frame of reference for this work.
You were right when you said to get at least three estimates. Try getting two more from Carrier dealers. Sears in our area is usually the high one. Make sure you compare apples to apples. Most important is who’s going to have service after the sale.
