Renault Megane (new shape) belt?
Hello, I just bought Renault Megane II 1.6 2003 brochure about the production, it was shown that the time Belts should be changed each 72,000 miles or 5 years old. The car has done 32000, what should I do? Citation had two mechanics and the price was as follows: £ 150 for Labor and timing belt = 1 days or 1 day and take a half (which look to me that it was the first time that the guy is a megane timing belt change) £ 270 for labor would, timing belt and aux belt kit = one days (it was big garage) £ 460 for labor and timing belt kit = half a day (Renault dealers (evenshalshaw)) £ 180 for labor, timing – Belt Set and aux belt = one day (it look like he knows what he's talking about) £ 100 for one days work = with all these quote any of them are using genuine Renault part would, apart from the dealer (€ 460) to various alternative if you do not use the Renault brand one? and the most important is who I can really trust?
the belt needs changing. says 72K or 5 years (which ever comes first). yes, 5 years for you. it until an independent garage. it maintains the same whether you use an alternative brand. Your car is out of warranty anyway. Avoid Renault dealer garages at all Price. I just take my Renault to them for warranty work. something that I trusted to my local garage.
